Enterprise Cloud Server Hardware Market to Reach $12.6 Billion in 2014

By 2014, IDC says that revenue for public cloud servers will hit $718 million, while private cloud server revenue will reach $11.8 billion.

IDC: IDC says that the potential efficiencies promised by cloud computing will spur enterprise investment in server hardware. By 2014, revenue from public cloud servers will grow from from $582 million in 2009 to $718 million, while the private cloud server market will rise from $7.3 billion to $11.8 billion during the same time.

Additional findings include the following:

  • "Public cloud computing has lower ASVs than an average x86-based server."
  • "Public cloud seems less likely to be broadly adopted than private."
  • "Public clouds will be less enterprise focused than private clouds."
  • "According to recent IDC survey results, almost half of respondents, 44%, are considering private clouds."
