Worldwide IT Services Revenue Declined 5.3 Percent in 2009

Gartner says worldwide IT services revenue amounted to $763 billion in 2009.

Gartner: A new report from Gartner says that worldwide IT services revenue declined 5.3 percent in 2009, totaling $763 billion. "2009 was a year like no other before it for IT services providers," said Gartner's Kathryn Hale. "Their priorities changed and their business focus rushed from aggressive sales or tactical revenue acquisition to strategies designed to simply maintain revenue levels, keep a handle on costs and manage profitability."

All of the five largest vendors in the space experienced declining revenue last year. That list includes IBM, HP, Fujitsu, Accenture and CSC.
