Astounding Year-to-Year Growth in PC Graphics

2009 saw 14 percent growth in graphics chip shipments.

Jon Peddie Research: Despite the bad economic news, 2009 graphic chip shipments increased 14 percent over 2008 levels. The growth was due in part to a new type of chip introduced in the fourth quarter of last year, CPU-integrated graphics or CIG.

Intel continues to hold the market share lead with 55.2 percent. It is followed by Nvidia with 24.3 percent and AMD with 19.9 percent of the market.
