Gartner Says Worldwide IT Spending To Grow 4.6 Percent in 2010

Strong growth in emerging markets will contribute to worldwide IT spending of $3.4 trillion.

Gartner: Gartner believes that "a slow but steady improvement in the macroeconomic environment in 2010 should support a return to modest growth in overall IT spending." The research firm predicts worldwide growth of 4.6 percent with total IT sales of $3.4 trillion. That's a "significant improvement" from last year's 4.6 percent decline.

Strongest growth is expected in the IT services sector, followed by software and telecom. Regionally, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa and Asia/Pacific will enjoy the strongest improvement, while Western Europe, the U.S. and Japan will see much more modest growth.
