Organizations Place Renewed Emphasis on Protection of Enterprise PC Data, IDC Says

In a recent survey, 53 percent of organizations said they were using a backup solution.

IDC: In a response to the threat of data loss, more than half of organizations told researchers that they had deployed backup technology. While about a third of organizations still rely on individuals to backup their own data, centralized approaches are becoming more common, particularly at larger organizations.

"Firms are now backing up PC data, once a long forgotten and overlooked information asset," said Laura DuBois, program director at Storage Software. "The most prevalent approach is centralized backup software, although legacy approaches still exist."
