A Glimpse At The Best And Worst Of Office 2010

What hassles will enterprises face when upgrading to Office 2010, and what are the potential benefits?

Forrester: Among the potential speed bumps when enterprises upgrade to Microsoft Office 2010 are the differences between 32- and 64-bit versions, the “makeover” of the VBA language and Office Object Model, "clunky" integration, and the much-maligned fluent user interface. The report also indicates that Microsoft has some work to do in convincing organizations that purchasing Office is still a wise investment with the increasing quality of free alternatives.

On the bright side, the report notes that "For those past the trauma of the design change, the upgrade should be relatively painless." In addition, the improved collaboration features should be a bonus for large organizations.
