In July 2000, employers were offering SAP professionals an average salary of $81,500 per year and an average contract rate of $76 per hour, according to dice.com, Datamation's sister site and an online job board for IT professionals. These wages are based on 443 listings for this type of professional, with cities bearing fewer than 10 listings excluded from mention. Silicon Valley had the greatest demand for SAP pros, taking 15% of the total listings. However, both Chicago and Los Angeles contained many offerings, with 14% and 12% of the total, respectively. The highest salaries on the table were in Silicon Valley, where SAP pros make $92,250 per year on average. And the highest average contract wage offerings, at $89 per hour, were in Philadelphia of all places.
