ComScore: Android Captures Top Spot in U.S. Smartphone Market

Google's mobile platform has widened its lead over over Apple.

ZDNet: According to the latest statistics from comScore, 36.4 percent of U.S. smartphone users have an Android phone, making it the most popular mobile platform in the country. Second place goes to Apple, with 26.0 percent of the market. Both Apple's iOS and Google's Android grew their market share between February and April, but Google grew more, stretching its lead.

By contrast, RIM, Microsoft and Palm all lost market share during the period.
