Cnet: During an interview at the D9 conference, HP CEO Leo Apotheker said that he might entertain the idea of licensing the WebOS mobile operating system to competitors. "I happen to believe that WebOS is a uniquely outstanding operating system," he said. "It's not correct to believe that it should only be on HP devices. There are all kinds of other people who want to make whatever kind of hardware they make and would like to connect them to the Internet. We'll make it available to enterprises and to SMBs (small- and medium-size businesses)."

Apotheker has previously announced that the company would put WebOS on its PCs, printers and other hardware, as well as mobile phones and tablets.
