Cnet: For years, countless scientists and government agencies have reassured users that mobile phones pose no health risk, but now the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), an arm of the World Health Organization (WHO), has published a report which says cell phones may cause cancer after all. The report officially labels mobile phones as a "carcinogenic hazard," a category which also includes lead, gasoline engine exhaust and chloroform.
The group said that further long-term studies are necessary to determine the actual risk posed by cell phones. In the meantime, users can reduce their risk by using hands-free devices or texting instead of holding their phones next to their heads.
