Cross-Site Scripting Attack on Hotmail Highlights Personal E-Mail Risk to Business

Employees who check their personal e-mail at work pose security risks.

ComputerWeekly: Earlier this week, security vendor Trend Micro revealed that Microsoft's Hotmail e-mail site was vulnerable to cross-site scripting attacks. As a result, users' e-mail messages could be accessed by attackers.

Although Hotmail is primarily a consumer service, TrendMicro said that the problem highlights the security risk posed by employees who check their personal e-mail accounts while connected to their work networks.
