Google Moves Fast to Plug Android Wi-Fi Data Leaks

Computerworld: Just days after security researchers revealed a vulnerability which could compromise Android phones used in public Wi-Fi hotspots, Google is issuing a patch. "Today we're starting to roll out a fix which addresses a potential security flaw that could, under certain circumstances, allow a third party access to data available in Calendar and Contacts," said a spokesperson. "This fix requires no action from users and will roll out globally over the next few days."

Security experts say the speed of the company's reaction is impressive. "The Google team talks about how they breathe security in and out, and this is a good example," said Mike Paquette, the chief strategy officer for Top Layer Security.
