Channel Register: During a meeting with investors, Intel's Renée James revealed that Microsoft is planning two versions of the Windows 8 operating system. "Windows 8 traditional" will run on Intel chips and will be able to "run all of their old applications, all of their old files – there'll be no issue," she said.
Microsoft is also developing a version of Windows 8 that runs on ARM chips. "On ARM, there'll be the new experience, which is very specifically around the mobile experience, specifically around tablet and some limited clamshell, with no legacy OS," James said. "Our competitors will not be running legacy applications. Not now. Not ever."
