HP Advances Next-Gen 'Memristor' Memory Technology

Computerworld: HP scientists have mapped out what happens inside tiny circuit components called "memristors" that could one day help to replace DRAM and flash technology. Scientists had known about memristors since the 1970s, but until now, no one knew how they worked because their small size -- just 100 nanometers wide -- made them difficult to study.

The scientists will publish their findings in an article in the journal Nanotechnology. The scientists speculate that the technology could become commercially available as early as 2013.
