CRN: Microsoft has formally apologized to customers for the outages that affected its Business Productivity Online Services (BPOS) cloud computing suite last week. "I'd like to apologize to you, our customers and partners, for the obvious inconveniences these issues caused," Microsoft's David Thompson blogged. "We know that e-mail is a critical part of your business communication, and my team and I fully recognize our responsibility as your partner and service provider."

The outages occurred on Tuesday and Thursday and delayed e-mail for several hours. Several other cloud computing providers have also experienced high-profile outages recently.
