The Daily Beast: When confronted with evidence, Facebook has confirmed that it hired top PR firm Burson-Marsteller to pitch negative stories about Google to the media. Facebook's spokesperson said that they made the move because they were concerned about Google's privacy practices related to its social media efforts and because they resented Google's attempts to get access to Facebook data for use in Google's social networking offerings.

The Google service that Facebook chose to attack is the Social Circle feature of Gmail that allows users to see information related to their friends and friends of friends.
