InformationWeek: During the past decade, the tech industry has experienced some boom years as well as two major crashes. How has that impacted IT salaries, compensation and other job-related issues? To find out, InformationWeek compared its U.S. IT Salary Survey data from 2001 and 2011.
Some things didn't change much during the decade. For example, people are just as worried about keeping their jobs, "architect" is still the best paying IT job title, and men still make about 11 percent more than women.
On the other hand, raises have dropped from 8.5 percent in 2001 to 0.9 percent in 2011. Average bonuses also plummeted from $11,000 to $4,000. Not surprisingly, more IT workers are worried about base pay now than they were in 2001.
