Tablets Starting to Replace Other Traditional Devices

A new Nielsen survey finds that tablet PC owners spend less time using their desktops, laptops, e-readers and gaming systems.

GigaOm: A new survey by Nielsen Co. finds that people who buy tablet PCs spend less time using their desktops, laptops, e-readers and gaming systems. Specifically, 35 percent said they use their desktop less or not at all, and 32 percent said they use their laptop less or not at all. In addition, 27 percent said they use their e-readers less or not at all, and 20 percent said they use their portable gaming systems less or not at all.

Sales of PCs and portable gaming systems have recently declined.
