TechCrunch: Google is now reporting that searches for the term "Bin Laden" surged up one million percent on Sunday, May 1, between 7:30 and 8:30 pm PST. Comparison graphs show that the increase in searches following Osama bin Laden's death was much higher than the surge of searches related to the royal wedding a few days earlier.
Twitter had previously reported that the event resulted in the highest sustained tweet rate ever -- 3440 tweets per second.
