Economic Times: According to investigators with with the Centre for Research on Multinational Companies and Students and Scholars Against Corporate Misbehaviour (Sacom), workers at China's Foxconn plant that was plagued by several suicides last year are now required to sign a "no suicide" pledge. In addition, they agree that if they do commit suicide, their families will only seek minimal damages.
A Sacom officials said that workers at the plant which manufactures Apple's iPhone and iPad "work excessive overtime for a salary they can hardly live on and are inhumanely treated." She added, "Conditions are harsh and they don't have a social life. Their life is just working in a factory and that is it."
