Time Techland: Julian Assange of WikiLeaks fame told Russia Today that Facebook is "the most appalling spy machine that has ever been invented." He further explained that the social networking service is "the world's most comprehensive database about people, their relationships, their names, their addresses, their locations, their communications with each other, their relatives…all accessible to U.S. intelligence."

He also criticized other major tech companies including Google and Yahoo saying, "These major U.S. organizations have built-in interfaces for U.S. intelligence. It's not a matter of serving a subpoena; they have an interface they have developed for U.S. intelligence to use."
