HP, Acer Lose Ground in Global Notebook Market

The two leaders see their market share decline while their competitors take up the slack.

DigiTimes: According to data from IDC, notebook market leaders HP and Acer both saw their market share decrease for the first quarter of 2011. HP fell from 20.1 percent the previous quarter to 18.5 percent market share; Acer dropped slightly from 14.9 percent to 14.8 percent.

During the same quarter, Dell, Toshiba, Lenovo, Asustek Computer, Samsung Electronics and Apple all increased their market share. Sony and Fujitsu, both based in Japan, fell.
