The Register: Following an extended outage of its cloud computing services, Amazon has admitted that about 0.07 percent of the volumes stored in the East Region of its Elastic Block Store (EBS) service will not be "fully recoverable." The company has said the outage was due to a "network effect" that caused problems with mirroring, but it has not yet released many details about the incident.

Problems with Amazon's cloud computing services caused several popular Web services, including Quora, Sencha, Reddit, and FourSquare, to be knocked offline.
