InformationWeek: The Ponemon Institute and security vendor Imperva have released the results of a new survey that finds that 67 percent companies required to comply with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) are not in full compliance. In addition, 50 percent of those surveyed said PCI compliance is a burden and 59 percent said compliance doesn't help companies become more secure.

Meanwhile, the number of companies experiencing a data breach jumped from 79 percent in 2009 to 85 percent in 2011. Non-compliant companies were more likely to have experienced a breach.
