Reuters: Microsoft attorneys argued in front of the Supreme Court that it should be easier for defendants in patent lawsuits to challenge the validity of patents. The argument was part of the company's appeal of a $290 million verdict imposed when a jury found Microsoft guilty of infringing on i4i's text manipulation patent.

A U.S. Appeals Court has previously upheld the ruling.
