Ars Technica: On Friday, Oracle announced that it would discontinue commercial development of OpenOffice.org, the open source office productivity suite that the company acquired with its purchase of Sun Microsystems. Last year, a group of prominent OpenOffice developers forked the project, creating the "LibreOffice" suite and a new non-profit organization called "The Document Foundation" that owns the project. Many of the companies other than Oracle that had been involved in the development of OpenOffice are now supporting LibreOffice instead.
Oracle's decision may also impact its Oracle Cloud Office product.
