InformationWeek: The FBI has announced that it will be taking over five servers in in Arizona, Georgia, Texas, Ohio and California that were used to control the Coreflood botnet. The people behind the botnet are accused of installing keylogger software on 2.3 million PCs (80 percent of which were in the U.S.) and using the data to steal financial login credentials. When it seizes the servers behind the botnet, the bureau will remotely disconnect those infected PCs from the botnet.
Federal authorities have also filed a civil complaint against 13 "John Doe" defendants believed to be behind the botnet.
