Computerworld: According to the Computer Research Association (CRA), enrollment in computer science programs at universities increased 10 percent last fall. The average university now has about 253 students in its computer science department.

While the increase is a positive sign, enrollments still have not returned to the high levels of 2001. In that year, the average computer science department had 398 students. After the dot-com crash, enrollment dropped quickly, falling 50 percent by 2007.
