Mozilla Shoots for June 21 Release of Firefox 5

The open source company is speeding up its development cycles in order to compete with Google's Chrome.

Computerworld: In the past, Mozilla has taken around a year to complete major updates to its open source browser. Now, the organization says it plans to dramatically shorten development cycles and that it will release version 5 of the browser by June 21. Version 6 could follow within two months.

The shorter cycle mimics Google's process for developing the Chrome browser.
