Oracle Sued by US for Alleged Overcharging

Bloomberg Business Week: The U.S. government has sued Oracle for violations of its GSA Schedule policies, costing taxpayers tens of millions of dollars.

The U.S. General Services Administration allows some vendors, including Oracle, to list their product prices on a schedule from which agencies can make purchases without the usual red tape. However, in order to be listed on the schedule, vendors must offer the government prices that are as good or better than the prices paid by the vendor's most favored customers. The government alleges that Oracle didn't abide by those conditions.

A whistleblower, former Oracle employee Paul Frascella, made similar charges in May 2007.
