The story of ERP in 2009 and what to expect in 2010

While many enterprises delayed ERP plans in 2009 due to recession concerns, 2010 looks to be a great year for ERP software vendors.

InfoWorld: Forrester Research predicts that Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software revenue from new licenses will have fallen 24 percent in 2009. However, 2010 looks good for ERP for several reasons.

First, the open-source market for ERP solutions is growing, with more than 10 different products available.

Second, Microsoft is broadening its ERP offerings in efforts to become a larger player in the segment.

Third, analysts predict that SAP's Business ByDesign offering will do well.

And finally, Oracle should begin delivering on its Fusion applications strategy.
